Langston Martial Arts - Your Instructor-Langston Martial Arts Academy
Darren Langston - Founder & chief instructor LMAA
I have been training in the Martial Arts since the early 80's but only really started to take it seriously at the turn of the 90's after being bullied at work. Due to this, I have always been driven by the self defence and self development side of Martial Arts, rather than the sporting side.
At age 11 I started training in boxing before moving on to Lau Gar Kung Fu and Wado Ryu Karate. From this foundation I moved on to study and develop what I felt were the more practical Martial Arts (with the main focus being on striking) and as a result I currently hold the grade of 5th Dan in Karate Jutsu.
After teaching for and alongside others for many years, in 2008 I opened my own school, Langston Martial Arts Academy, and developed LMAA Kickboxing, I hold the grade of 6th Dan in this style.
Several years ago I took up Jeet Kune Do, Kali, and Combat Knife, under Instructor Marcie Harding.
With all of this experience, today I focus on developing and teaching Bruce Lee's system of Jeet Kune Do.
